Our adoption contract is below. You may want to "right click" with your mouse and choose "open in new tab" so that you do not navigate away from this site.
Our adoption process consists of an application being filled out and an adoption fee to be paid at time of adoption. Vet checks and a home visit may be done before applicant is approved.
All of the animals available for adoption have received age appropriate vaccinations and have been spayed or neutered and de-wormed. If appropriate they have received booster vaccinations as well and have been started on heartworm prevention according to veterinary instructions.
Currently our adoption fee is $300 for our small dogs and puppies and $250 for our adult dogs. We set the fee per dog for our senior and special needs dogs, but normally their adoption fee would be $200. We reserve the right to raise our fee at any time or to not charge an adoption fee for some of the dogs. While we spend much more on our rescued animals, these fees give us some help in caring for all the animals which we keep until they are adopted.
If you see a dog that you would like to learn more about, please email us and remember to state the name of the dog you are interested in. We are waiting to hear from you! Ask questions! We will put you in touch with the person that is fostering the dog in their home and can tell you everything you want to know..
Training Info:
We urge you to get some basic training for any dog that you decide to take into your home as part of your family. PetSmart has wonderful training programs for any age and any experience level. We prefer the "positive reward" training methods that they teach rather than the harsher "old school" methods that require choke collars, shock collars, etc.
You can also learn some of the basics by visiting https://positively.com/ or by clicking on the link below and watching these videos by Victoria Stilwell on YouTube.
We prefer to help New Hanover County dogs, but does not matter to us where the animal is from. We will not turn away an animal in need if we have the space to take it in, however the animal must not be aggressive toward people.
